Cocoon is an insectoid puzzle adventure that's being developed by Jeppe Carlsen, the lead gameplay designer of Playdead's Inside and Limbo. The game was announced at today's Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, and its worlds-within-worlds reality hopping system has already blown my mind a little. Cocoon, a new sci-fi puzzler from the designer behind Limbo and Inside, made its debut at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase - and we're already intrigued. In development at indie studio Geometric Interactive, and published by Annapurna Interactive, the world premiere trailer for Cocoon showed the winged protagonist emerging from a metallic cocoon before running around a futuristic map placing glowing orbs on censors and using other orbs to grapple upwards and onto objects. Jeppe Carlsen's new game has a distinctly different vibe than his previous releases. As the lead gameplay designer of Limbo and Inside , Carlsen is known for building spooky side-scrollers with morbid visuals, but his latest original project features a bug-like explorer in a mysterious, neon-speckled planet system. The main character resembles an anthropomorphic firefly as it picks up orbs and uses them to traverse the environment, leaping among worlds and exploring ancient alien technology. Announced during the Xbox-Bethesda showcase, here's our first look at Cocoon, a new puzzle-adventure game from Jeppe Carlsen, the lead gameplay designer of Inside and Limbo. Developed by Geometric Interactive and published by Annapurna Interactive, Cocoon is a described as a sci-fi puzzle adventure. In addition to Carlsen, the game is also being worked on by programmer/composer Jakob Schmid, who worked on 140, which won the 2013 IGF award for Excellence in Audio.
