Google Developing AR Headset With Qualcomm Chip: Report

Google is developing a standalone augmented reality headset powered by Qualcomm's Internet of Things chip QSC603, German tech outlet WinFuture reports, citing internal company documents. The device in question is said to be code-named “Google A65” and meant to work entirely untethered, with Alphabet's subsidiary targeting Bluetooth 5.1 support, as well as gigabit Wi-Fi speeds. Google is reportedly working on a standalone augmented reality headset that will use new Qualcomm chips. It will be built by Taiwanese computer maker Quanta. The project is still in its early stages, according to documents obtained by WinFuture .
The AR headset is supposed to be similar to Microsoft's HoloLens , a headset that came out in 2016 and is aimed at design, training, and industrial use.
